One Month!!!

Exactly one month ago today our sweet girl was born, and wow has life changed! I never thought I could be so tired, so overwhelmed, and so frazzled all at the same time. But I also never thought I could love someone so much and be completley taken in by how amazing this little girl already is. Sometimes I just sit and stare at her while she sleeps, in awe that she is my child and I have the privledge to be her mother. Although I have to say she is definitley her father's child. From the minute she was born I thought Lucy Mills looked like Travis, but she is favoring him even more these days. Lucky for her she has a good lookin' daddy :)

She is growing and changing as the days and weeks go by and I don't want to miss a minute of it. I am happy to say that we are finally on a schedule! Hopefully I am not speaking too soon here, but she actually slept in 4 1/2 and 5 hour increments of time last night! Whahoo! Much better than the every other hour schedule we had been on. Mom feels like a new woman! Our routine during the daytime is working out great too. Lucy Mills goes down for naps beautifully and sleeps for about 3 hours before it's time to get up and eat again. We've got one month under our belts now - hopefully the next one will be just as memorable! Here are a few pictures since August 27th...

How hard can it be???

Ok, even someone like myself who has been around babies and taken care of children for years, underestimated how difficult having my own baby would be. Lucy Mills is wonderful and the majority of the time she is a very happy baby; however, taking care of a newborn around the clock can be exhausting... especially when she wants to be up every other hour during the night. :)

After seeing his wife functioning on virtually no sleep for the past few weeks, Travis offered to get up with the baby on Friday nights (and even the occasional Saturday night if I can convince him). After all "how hard can it be?" he so naively stated.

The next day when I was running errands I came home to find my three babies sound asleep on the floor in Lucy Mills nursery...

Gotta love 'em!

We love our Daddy!

I feel so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man who loves our little girl more than life. Travis - I love watching you with Lucy Mills. You light up when you see her and the two of you have a sweet bond that is already evident. She is lucky to call you her daddy.

Here is a fun video...

...glad Maggie made an appearance :)

Before I got married I read the book For Women Only which talks about the things that women need to understand in order to support and love their husbands in the ways that they need. After I got married a very influential woman in my life gave me the follow up book called For Men Only. There is a quotation in the book that I loved and it reminded me of Travis. He always looks at the positive side of things, while I find myself preparing for the reality of what could happen, sometimes expecting the worse. I am glad that he sees the glass as half full...because when he thinks about me I hope the good outweighs the not so good.

"My husband smiles at me when he comes home from work and discovers the kids have drawn monsters on my legs with markers. He appreciates egg sandwiches and Spaghetti O's more than a gourmet meal. He believes that I am a better mother, more talented, and a more virtuous person than I actually am...His eternal optimism changes me ever so slightly, day after day, into something more beautiful than I'd otherwise be. He's imperfect, puerile, and sloppy, yet strong, wise, and loving. The fact that I get to live with him over the course of my lifetime is one of the biggest scams I've pulled of - I keep waiting for him to wake up, jump over the mound of unwashed clothes, and bolt out the door. But he sees my imperfections as endearing. Over the past 10 years, we've both changed. But the one thing remains constant is my utter and unashamed need of him." - For Men Only
